A Heritage Christmas
December 11, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Every December, hundreds of residents of Harrisonburg City and the surrounding areas make A Heritage Christmas a part of their Christmas traditions. The small strength and beauty of candles in the still and silent darkness allows visitors a respite from the hubbub of commercialized Christmas chaos as they reflect on the experience of Advent preparations as they might have taken place 100 years ago. Join us this year on December 11 from 4 PM to 7 PM. Admission fees (adults – $10, students – $5, children 5 and under – free) support the ongoing work of the Brethren & Mennonite Heritage Center.
In addition to the traditional candlelight tour, our celebration usually includes hands-on family crafts, live music, wonderful holiday refreshments, and horse-drawn wagon rides. However, this year we will minimize direct contact in an effort to uphold pandemic precautions, and instead will demonstrate crafts and provide you with packets that you can complete at home.
Come see and receive packets for:
– Pine needle sachets;
– Old-fashioned paper tree ornaments;
– Christmas cookies;
– Popcorn and cranberry chain;
– and Christmas greenery.
– Blacksmithing demonstrations;
– Treats from Father Christmas;
– Fresh popcorn;
– Live Christmas music;
– and take a ride in a horse-drawn wagon!
If you would like to make additional donations to the Heritage Center and receive a tax-receipt, please make checks payable to the “Brethren & Mennonite Heritage Center,” and make sure your check includes an address at which you receive mail.
