Explore Rocktown Trails Cycling Event

Harrisonburg Tourism Presents: Explore Rocktown at Hillandale Park.

The event  is set to start at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023. There will be a snack booth and a raffle for a chance to win prizes.

A group of students from Harrisonburg High School organized a fun event where people can come down to explore the Rocktown Trails in Hillandale Park as a part of their High school’s government class. This event is made for the community to bring awareness to the new trails and promote a healthy community. Explore Rocktown is open to all types of riders. They’ll be leaders for the trails, which range from beginner to experienced riders. Please make sure to bring your own bike as Explore Rocktown will not provide bikes.

All riders will have the same starting point. Riders will be split into 3 groups based on experience. Each group will be led through 2 laps and groups will be sent at different times. There will be a booth for registration as well as snacks provided from Harrisonburg High School’s Earth Club. There will be wristbands provided depending on experience. A raffle will be held where participants can earn prizes.

Many locals have had positive experiences with the trails as well. Senior at Harrisonburg High School, Ty Hass said: “It means a lot that there are trails so close to me. Being able to ride whenever I want on good trails is awesome, and most of them are trails made by fellow riders who volunteer. Also the builders made a small space feel massive.”

This event will allow local community members to share the joys of mountain biking while not having to travel far.
