In February, Wild Virginia’s book club will discuss Finding the Mother Tree: Discovering the Wisdom of the Forest. In the book Suzanne Simard, a forest ecologist from a family of foresters, tells the story of how she uncovered the way that trees communicate with one another through mycorrhizal networks now known as the “wood wide web”. This is an inspiring account of how Simard used her scientific knowledge to become an advocate for the interconnected community that gives rise to healthy forests.
