ARTIST STATEMENT
Most perceive Photography as a recorder of fleeting moments; synonymous with memory, forever registering them in a single snap of the shutter.
Real memory is faulty though. Our recollection of colors, details, reality – there’s so much more richness in an experience. Time will blur things together, obscure detail, and take on a hue applied by our emotions and recollections, while sometimes memory of a particular place or thing are inexplicably crisp.
My work aims to reflect my own memory in more complex layers of an experience – sights, sounds, light, color, textures – and represent them in single frame. The works in this series are primarily double exposures captured in-camera. By layering colors, textures, and light patterns in an exposure, my images tell a story of my own recollections and experiences.
