This October we have the honor to have Deviant Kreations as the artist of the month! We are also so excited to bring back Trout Mouth who will be putting on an amazing musical performance for this event. You’ve probably spotted Deviant Kreations at the Harrisonburg farmer’s market with their beautifully illustrated art, full of color and whimsy. Here is a little about the artist themself:
“Hi I’m Dandy! I’m a 25 year old queer artist based out of Harrisonburg, VA. I am a JMU alum with a degree in sociology. When I’m not making art (which feels like I’m always doing), I’m spending time with my dog Nevus or with my partner and my friends. I love what I do and getting to share it with others.
I find my inspiration from everyone and anything. It could be a show I’ve been watching, something a friend said in passing, or from random prompts I come up with or from generators. I believe everyone has a creative voice, and I hope to encourage that self expression in others.
Art and creating in general have always been my happy place; a place where I feel accepted, and at peace. I made Deviant Kreations with the intention of making art accessible to more people and making a safe space for queer people and other marginalized communities. My goal is to make the world a brighter place, one design at a time.”
