Shara McCallum: Poetry Reading

Furious Flower Poetry Center and JMU’s African, African American, and Diaspora Studies (AAAD) Center are proud to present a live reading, Q&A, and book signing with award-winning Jamaican poet, Shara McCallum. McCallum is the author of six books published in the US and UK, most recently No Ruined Stone, winner of the 2022 Hurston/Wright Legacy Award for Poetry and named a finalist for the 2022 UNT Rilke Prize. McCallum’s poems and essays have appeared in journals, anthologies, and textbooks throughout the US, Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, and Asia.
The reading and Q&A will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Highlands Room in the Festival Conference Center and livestreamed on Facebook. The book signing will follow the reading from 5:30 to 6 p.m. This event is free and open to the public and is part of the 13th Annual African, African American, and Diaspora Studies (AAAD) Interdisciplinary Conference held at James Madison University.
