Tenacious 10 Mile and 5K
August 13 @ 10:30 am
Race Day Details
There will be a 1 mile kid’s trail race with excellent photo and viewing opportunities for parents on the course.
The 5K course will be the second half of the figure 8 (mostly green loop) of the NUTT Endurance Challenge loop. It is a beautiful loop with moderately technical trails. About 400 feet of elevation with gradual climbing in the first 1.5 miles.
The 10 mile course will begin on the gravel road and veer up onto a relatively new trail developed by the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition. The course challenges you with 1100 feet of climbing over the first 5 miles. This trail offers rolling climbs, beautiful trails with both larger and smaller rocks.
Runners will reach the aid station at the Massanutten Overlook around mile 4.5. Beautiful views of Harrisonburg can be seen here. Runners will then hit the ridgeline, reach Kaylor’s Knob, for a brief period of time before a fantastic barreling downhill (this section can be technical at times) for awhile before proceeding around fields and a small pond. The 10 mile course will finish with a slight downhill finish on gravel, over 90% of the course is single track trail.
