When Paul Hansbarger and his wife, Jessica, were expecting their first child, Jessica asked him if he would create a functional, practical diaper bag. Requests came pouring in from friends and family for a bag of their own and Lineage was born. The retail space and workshop in historic Agora Downtown Market now offers high quality waxed canvas bags made from durable, time tested materials such as water repellent canvas and vegetable tanned leather. Each bag is named for a river that flows through the state of Virginia, with the exception of the Mountain Laurel, which is named for Paul’s daughter.

Lineage also provides an offering of candles and room sprays, with unmistakably familiar, remarkable fragrances. These candles ignite memories of warm campfires, lush leafy forests, and crisp walks in the woods. All candles are poured in small batches and stored in amber low ball glasses and with kraft paper lids.

Zack and Amberlee Carlson began experimenting with cider in their tiny apartment on Gay Street. Eventually, their hard work, passion, and countless hours of perfecting their craft led to the opening of Harrisonburg’s first cidery in 2020. Their handcrafted hard cider is sourced from 12 varieties of locally grown Virginia apples. Varieties such as Dry River Reserve, Sweet Shenandoah, and Rocktown Light honor the mountains and rivers surrounding the Friendly City and are sure to please any palate. Travelers and growlers are available for purchase in the taproom.
