First Friday Art Gallery art Music with Shauna Frantz + Mia Greenwald

Every First Friday, The Perch hosts an opening reception with the Artist of the Month in the Wing Gallery.
This December, we will be featuring a collaborative gallery with Shauna Frantz + Mia Greenwald.
The opening gallery will precede an evening of music from 7:30p-9p with Onokio – Electronics, Steven Londono – Guitar, and Bridge of Tones – Upright bass and Handpan.
A bit about Shauna:
Shauna has a lot of friendships in the natural world, and finds inspiration in the intimate cycles of growth and decay. Partnering with the fruits of these cycles, their work captures moments of movement and expression in compositions of sound and form. Intrigued by questions of consciousness, meaning, and purpose, Shauna works both in visual and sound art, collaborating with plant pigments, fiber, dried material, and echoes of life.

M Greenwald is a Virginia-based artist whose interdisciplinary practice incorporates weaving, natural dye, ceramics, and video. They work through the language of craft materials to explore themes of magic, the body, and land. In this, finding spaces for connection and restoration, as well as reckoning with sites of fracture, loss, and grief in the context of capitalism, colonialism, and whiteness.
